Introduction to Medieval Studies – From interlace to Gothic art
Medieval conceptions of beauty and harmony, from the Celtic era to the courtly
period, together with their recent developments and adaptations.
This course uses both medieval sources (epic tales, chivalric romances, manuscript
illuminations...) and contemporary documents (Tolkien, serious or comic films, history books...).
All original material is handed out in both medieval and Modern English. No prior knowledge of medieval England is required.
