Cultures de l’image

“British Visual Culture”

This course examines British culture through its images, therereby providing another perspective on British history and literature between the Middle Ages and today. Images do not just function as illustration but fashion and shape our perception and representation of objects, books, ideas, events and life in general.  Various types of images will be studied: engravings, paintings, drawings, photographs, etc

Each lecture will provide the cultural context, literary information and a reminder of the historical background; it will also involve exercises in decoding images using the moodle platform on the Sorbonne website (for individual access to the CM material).

Access to moodle:

  • Modalité de controle: Controle continu
