Description et objectifs
Ce cours propose d’abord un classement génétique des langues du monde (centré sur les langues indo-européennes, puis romanes et galloromanes), suivi d’une typologie sociolinguistique (distinction ‘langue’ / ‘patois’ / ‘dialecte’ / ‘français régional’ ; bilinguisme, diglossie et polyglossie ; sabir, lingua franca, pidgin, créole, argot), pour aboutir à la typologie linguistique à proprement parler (langues fusionnelles, agglutinantes et isolantes ; tendances synthétiques et analytiques).
